Dog People was an historic event. The conference, the material that was presented and the networking that happened will both consolidate the work being done around the globe and help to set directions for the future. The conference is gone, but not forgotten...

Programme

The range and quality of the presentations for the conference created a stimulating event for everyone. The programme is available for downloading from the presentations page.

Time & place

Dog People ran from 16 - 21, July in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia at Darwin's premier conference venue. The Crowne Plaza is located at 32 Mitchell Street in the heart of the central business district.

The hotel is only fifteen minutes from Darwin International airport and is within easy walking distance of most restaurants, entertainment and shopping areas. The hotel was well equipped to ensure the conference ran as smoothly as possible. Accommodation was also allocated at the hotel for convenience, see above for more details.

Darwin

The capital city of the Northern Territory, Australia is an amazing place. You are presented with an extraordinary spectrum of choice; from luxurious accommodation and beautiful alfresco cafes to some of the most remote and rugged country in the world. Beautiful beaches, ancient cultures, incredible wildlife and the very relaxed Darwin style combine to make this an unforgettable destination.

More pertinently however, the Northern Territory is home to many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in remote communities. Darwin is a natural place to engage with the issues of companion animal management in remote indigenous communities.

Travel

Darwin is served by regular flights on three domestic carriers: Qantas, Virgin Blue and Jetstar. Book your flights with these carriers directly or use one of the many online travel sites that are available (or you could visit your friendly travel agent for the old-fashioned approach). Buses also run services to and from Darwin and for something a little indulgent, you could catch the Ghan for the legendary journey from Adelaide.
